Why Learn to Dive in Tulum?
Tulum is one of the few places on Earth where you can get your PADI certification in two completely different underwater worlds — the Caribbean Sea and the freshwater cenotes of the Yucatán — all in the same course.
Water temperature stays between 24°C and 28°C year-round. Visibility exceeds 30 meters. No cold, no poor conditions, no wasted days. Just ideal learning conditions and scenery most divers only dream about.
-
The PADI Open Water Diver certification is the entry-level scuba diving license recognized worldwide. It allows you to dive independently with a buddy to 18 meters (60 feet) at any dive site on the planet. It never expires.
-
None at all. The Open Water course is designed for complete beginners. Your instructor guides you through everything from the very first breath underwater.
-
3 days total. With PADI eLearning completed before arrival, most students finish in 3 days. We offer a relaxed 4-day pace for those who prefer more time between sessions.
-
As a certified Open Water Diver you can dive independently to 18 meters (60 feet) with a buddy, at any dive site in the world.
-
Completely normal — and you won't be alone. Day 1 at Casa Cenote is deliberately calm and shallow. Our instructors are experienced with nervous beginners and always go at your pace.
-
The full Open Water course at Mexidivers starts from $11,000 MXN (approx. $630 USD), including all equipment, transportation, and certification fees. Same internationally recognized certification as anywhere in the world — in far better conditions.
-
Yes — and we recommend it. We send you PADI eLearning access after booking so you arrive ready to dive on Day 1.
-
Both are globally recognized and equally respected at dive shops worldwide. PADI is the world's largest diving training organization with over 6,600 dive centers globally — meaning your certification is recognized virtually everywhere you'll ever want to dive. At Mexidivers we teach PADI because we believe in their training standards and the quality of their curriculum.
