Why Dive Casa Cenote & Carwash Together?
Casa Cenote and Carwash make a beautiful combination because each cenote offers a completely different feeling.
At Casa Cenote, the dive is open, bright and full of life. You swim through clear water, mangrove roots and a coastal freshwater environment that feels peaceful and easy to enjoy.
At Carwash Cenote, the mood changes. The dive becomes more atmospheric, with lily pads on the surface, tree roots, branches, cavern areas and light filtering through the water. It feels like entering a quiet underwater forest.
Together, these two sites create a balanced cenote diving tour: open water beauty, gentle cavern atmosphere and plenty of time to enjoy the calm side of diving in Tulum.

Carwash Cenote / Aktun Ha Diving
Carwash Cenote is also known by its Mayan name, Aktun Ha. The nickname “Carwash” comes from local history, when the cenote was used by taxi drivers to wash their cars before it became known as a cenote diving site.
Today, Carwash is one of the most atmospheric cenote dives near Tulum. The surface is often covered with lily pads, and as you descend, the scenery can feel like an underwater garden with roots, branches, rock formations and soft natural light.
Depending on conditions, you may pass through a slightly misty or tannic layer before reaching clearer water below. This gives the dive a very unique feeling — almost like moving from one world into another.
Carwash is loved by divers and underwater photographers because of its calm mood, organic scenery and beautiful contrast between open water, cavern areas and natural details.
What makes Carwash special:
Also known as Aktun Ha
Lily pads and underwater garden scenery
Easy cavern-style dive for certified divers
Beautiful light and shadow effects
Roots, branches and limestone rock formations
Peaceful atmosphere for photography and relaxed exploration
