Casa Cenote
Casa Cenote is one of the most popular cenotes in Tulum, located just a few steps from the beach. It connects one of the world’s longest underwater cave systems with the sea, making it a truly unique dive site.
The cenote stretches about 230 meters into the jungle and reaches a maximum depth of 8 meters. Diving in Casa Cenote takes you along mangrove roots that extend into the water, creating shelter for many small fish. You’ll see rocks covered in green algae and enjoy incredible visibility with natural light shining through.
Freshwater and saltwater fish like snooks, tarpons, and mollies live here. The mangrove roots act as nurseries for baby fish. Diving at Casa Cenote feels like swimming under the jungle. It is an experience full of color, life, and beauty.
Carwash Cenote
Carwash, also known as Aktun Ha (“water cave” in Mayan), is one of the first cenotes explored by cave divers. Its name comes from the time when local taxi drivers used to wash their cars here.
The open water area looks like a small lagoon, with an underwater garden full of fish, turtles, and sometimes even a small crocodile. Diving in Carwash starts in this garden and then continues into the cavern. Inside, you’ll see large rock formations darkened by tannic acid and wide cavern spaces where sunlight is always visible.
One of the highlights of the dive is swimming back toward the entrance, where fallen trees and bright light create a stunning view. The dive finishes with a safety stop in the garden, surrounded by the cenote’s lively creatures.
Carwash is considered an easy cavern dive, with plenty of space and no need to swim close to the sediment. It’s a safe and enjoyable dive with impressive scenery both inside the cavern and in the open water garden.
